Newt Gingrich Comments On Palestinians as 'Invented People'

This was something that impressed me about Gingrich previously, and it was a high point of the Jacksonville debate:

PREVIOUSLY: "Newt Gingrich Attacked By Weasels."

There is an issue here that is not getting much attention. Speaker Gingrich may not realize it explicitly, but at least by instinct he gets it.

From the Convention against Genocide

Article II: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

The Palestinian leadership and their friends in the West are accusing Israel of Genocide. The Israelis' and their supporters are pointing out that the Palestinians are not a national group, a defense against the charge.

On the other hand I have seen comments by leadership in various NGO's that the Israelis. and Jews are not a legitimate "national, ethnical, racial or religious group" though they did not mention the convention. Charters of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the PLO all contain calls for the destruction of Isreal that easly meets the requirement of the convention if Israelis/Jews are protected by the convention. Statements by the President of Iran alo are calls for violation of the convention.

At some point the lawyers are going to get rich(er).
